Biography:
Dr Takalani Mpofu studied Animal Sciences at the University of Venda and graduated with a Bachelor of Agriculture in 2009. He later joined the University of Limpopo and graduated with honours and a master’s degree in animal sciences in 2013 and 2017, respectively. Dr Takalani received his PhD degree in 2020 at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Currently, Dr Mpofu works as a senior lecturer at the Department of Animal Sciences at the same institution where he received his PhD degree. During his PhD at TUT, he received an Erasmus+ mobility grant, wherein he also studied at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS) in Poland. Amongst others, Dr Mpofu is the youngest Y2 NRF-rated researcher at Tshwane University of Technology and a recipient of the Faculty of Science Young Researcher of the Year (2021/2022). He has published more than 30 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented more than 40 conference proceedings. To date, he has supervised 5 master's students and 1 PhD to completion and is currently supervising 9 master's and 4 PhD students.
